Whenever Jesse Rutherford walks by a field with daffodils and walnut trees, he knows a home used to be there. Rutherford is a homebuilder, member of the Nelson County Board of Supervisors, and a lifelong Nelson County resident. He’s concerned that old homes in his community are becoming uninhabitable at a faster rate than new homes are being built.

Less homes in a community means less families living in the community. And that’s a problem.
